What’s on your bookshelf?

I love hoarding books. Sometimes, I end up buying ones that I don’t even read. But, I nevertheless can’t resist buying ’em. So my bookshelf is a mix of ones I have read so many times, ones I have forgotten that exist, a few I got as gifts and so on. Recently, I came across a comic by Grant Snider which inspired me to write this post. Thanks Grant, your comic inspired me to post on this blog after months 😀

The book I could’nt put down
The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. This one was strongly recommended by my sister in law, and I loved it so much. I must have re-read it a couple of times, and every single time, I learn something new from it.

The book I couldn’t pick up
The Secret Daily Teachings – Rhonda Byrne. I had purchased this along with The Secret. Reason why I haven’t been able to pick it up yet- I’m waiting to finish The Secret before I pick this up. And for some reason, I can’t seem to do any progress with that since years.

The book you gave me
Both of them were given by cousins. Loved both. Would have never picked them up myself.
Shadows in the Sun by Gayathri Ramprasad
Only Love is Real by Brian Weiss

The book I brought to the beach
None really. I don’t like to read when I’m at the beach.

The book I tried so hard to like
Middlemarch by George Eliot . I came across this one in multiple ‘Best Books to Read’ lists and ordered it.  Haven’t been able to read it beyond a few chapters till date. Reason? I found it too difficult to keep track of so many characters, and found the pace too slow for my liking.

The book I somehow own three copies of
The Body Goddess – Payal Gidwani. I had purchased three of these – one for me, one for my mum and one for a friend. Though my friend liked it, my mum doesn’t want it. So I’m stuck with two copies.

The book that saved my life
Mirror Work by Louise Hay. It’s based on affirmations. This one is literally a savior. You have to experience it to believe it.

The book I lent you ( I don’t want them back 🙂 )
Well, there are many. Here are some that I remember – How To Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie, The Shiva Trilogy by Amish Tripathi, a whole lot of John Grisham books.

The book I fall asleep to every night
Any that I am currently reading. Right now it is The Fifth Mountain by Paulo Coelho

The book that I am desperately trying to write
Well, I am not writing any. But, if I do, it would be a ‘What not to do’ for bloggers 😀

All the books that changed my life
Mirror Work by Louise Hay – Made me believe in the power of affirmations
Don’t Lose Your Mind, Lose Your Weight by Rujuta Diwekar – Changed my perspective about food and dieting
Don’t Lose Out, Work Out by Rujuta Diwekar – Made me take up strength training
Zero to Blogger in 30 Days! by Sarah Arrow (It is called 30 days of Business Blogging Challenge now)

This is about my bookshelf. Would love to know what’s in yours. Do let me know in the comments below!
