If you’ve read my previous posts, you may be aware that we had been on a mini vacation to Goa. We left on 18th morning at around 9 a.m. and managed to reach the airport on time in spite of the office hour rush. We had booked our tickets with GoAir. Check-in was hassle free. We faced trouble right from the time boarding started. To start with, they had changed the boarding gate without proper announcements and hence there was a lot of confusion. When we got into the airplane, it was hot, stuffy and suffocating inside. We were told that there is some issue which would be resolved once the flight takes off. After some time we were told that our flight was delayed by about 45 minutes. It was a nightmare sitting in the suffocating airplane in sweltering Mumbai heat. Finally, we reached Goa at around 1.30 pm.
The hotel that we had booked for our trip, Ramada Caravela Resort, Varca was about 30 km from the airport. We decided to take a prepaid cab. The queue for the cab was quite long but quick moving. Once we booked the cab, we had to go about 150-200 meters from the exit with our luggage since cabs are not allowed near the exit. Our cab driver was a friendly guy who helped us with our luggage. My daughter hadn’t eaten on the flight so she was hungry. We wanted to stop somewhere in between on the way to our hotel but there was not a single good restaurant in sight where we could stop.
By the time we reached our hotel, it was nearly 3.30 pm. We opted for a room which was quiet and far away from all the activities. The place was lovely and soon we forgot all our travel woes. My daughter, in spite of the long and tiring trip did not want to rest or nap. We changed and went to the swimming pool. By this time the sun had mellowed down, but the pool water was quite warm. We wallowed in the pool till closing time. Then, after dropping us back at our room, my husband went out to get a bike on rent and take a quick look around the place. He decided to get some pizza for dinner, but the nearest pizza joint Dominos was about 20 minutes away. He went and got it anyway. The roads were pitch dark on his way back; there was not a single street light. After dinner we loitered in the lobby for some time and thus ended a long day.
Sharing some pictures from day 1 –
Outside one of the rooms we saw a beautiful metal water basin with flowers and candles floating
By the time I remembered to take pictures on the first day, it was late evening hence the photos are all dark. Will be posting more pictures tomorrow!
